Sophie Smit, Practicum

I am a practicum student at Compass Clinic conducting psychological assessments for children under the supervision of a registered psychologist. My primary passion is to support families with whatever challenges may arise as their child develops, whether through an informative assessment or evidence-based intervention. I aim to be collaborative, warm, and strengths-based in my interactions with every family I have the opportunity to work with. I am currently a PhD Candidate in the Clinical Psychology program at UBC. I’ve worked with children, youth, parents, and young adults at previous practicums, including BC Children’s Hospital (completing assessments for the Neonatal Follow Up Program and providing therapy with medical psychology), Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (completing adolescent assessments), Vancouver Anxiety Centre (providing therapy), and Cornerstone Child and Family Psychology Clinic (providing therapy).
