Charmaine Miranda, PhD, R.Psych

I am the founder of Compass Clinic and a Registered Psychologist. When I was a child, I wanted to be a detective. I am now a brain detective. I find out why we see certain behaviour and what we can do about it. My aim is to bring an understanding of brain-behaviour relationships and practical suggestions for building on strengths and improving weaknesses. I have a unique skill set that combines training as a neuropsychologist and as a teacher. I have expertise in ADHD, FASD, Developmental Disabilities, Autism, and giftedness. I see children and adults. I also do behavioural consultation (including training to improve executive functioning), and will review IEP documents, consult to teachers, and run professional education workshops. My PhD was completed in Auckland, New Zealand, on a Commonwealth Scholarship. I interned at the Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto. My past work experience includes 10 years at BC’s Children’s Hospital where I worked in Neurology, Autism, and Neonatal Follow-up. I hold academic positions at both UBC and SFU.
