Brianne Samson, MOT
I am a registered Occupational Therapist under the College of Occupational Therapist of British Columbia (COTBC). I have nearly 10 years of experience working with youth and adults with developmental disabilities and concurrent mental health or behavioural conditions. I have provided direct assessment along side an expert multi-disciplinary team in a tertiary mental health setting; the Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC). Specifically, my practice includes assessing individuals diagnosed with intellectual disability, Autism, FASD, Down Syndrome and other genetic syndromes, to better understand their adaptive, sensory, and/or motor function. Through using standardized assessments, daily living skills and meaningful activity I work with the individual to identify their strengths and challenges, while taking into consideration that the environment plays an enormous role influencing one’s capabilities. I received my Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of BC. I have spent my career striving to better understand how those with developmental differences function on a day to day basis, and what practical strategies can be used to enhance the daily life of the person and their family.
