Dr. Ali Eslami MD, PhD
I am a child psychiatrist at BC Children’s Hospital and Compass Clinic. I am licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. I went to medical school in my home country, Iran. Then, I took a long detour and went to graduate school in the US to study philosophy. After I got my PhD from Brown University, I jumped back to medicine. I did my general psychiatry training at UCSD, and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UCLA, both in California, USA. I moved to Vancouver after I finished my training. While at BC children’s Hospital, I have worked in different units, including emergency psychiatry, NeuroPsychiatry clinic, and adolescent inpatient unit. I have been always interested in nurodevelopmental disorders, and I have been performing autism assessment for various health authorities in BC for about 10 years now. I have a research lab at BC Children’s Hospital where I study the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to protect and prevent mental health decompensation in children and adolescents. Clinically, my main interest is diagnostic consultation.
