Alejandra Botia, MA, RCC

As a registered counsellor at Compass Clinic, I provide individual and family-centered counselling to children, adolescents, and younger adults. I have over 6 years of experience providing psychological support to individuals in clinical and community settings. My clinical and research background involves specialized training in behavioural, cognitive, and emotion-focused therapy with children, adolescents, and young adults enduring a range of mental health and personal experiences. These include neurodevelopmental differences, such as ADHD, as well as anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, and body image. I also gained experience in the area of vocational counselling as a career advisor at UBC. I apply a counselling practice that is integrative, as my mission is to honor every client’s unique experience. I believe that this approach to counselling enables an identification of a therapeutic strategy that is tailored to the needs and goals of each client. At the core of my practice, I maintain a person-centered counselling approach that focuses on building safe and positive therapeutic relationships. Throughout the therapeutic relationship, I apply a positive psychological framework that emphasizes opportunities for clients to access, develop, and utilize their skills, strengths, and personal resources. I obtained my M.A. in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia.
