Leah Baugh – MD, RCC

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and provide individual counselling to adolescents and adults across the lifespan at Compass Clinic.  My Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology was completed at the University of British Columbia, and I am currently completing their PhD program in Counselling Psychology.  I have over 8 years of experience working with a broad range of clients, supporting them through concerns such as: anxiety, depression, identity, trauma, grief, interpersonal relationships, and career and life transitions.

I bring an integrated therapeutic approach to counselling and let the individuality of clients shape their counselling experience.  I draw on the principles of Narrative Therapy – offering a space where clients can unapologetically share their story, collaboratively set meaningful goals, and identify the strengths they already have.  Some of the specific skills and techniques I draw on include: values exercises to promote self-acceptance, Emotionally Focused Therapy interventions to bring insight, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions to foster change.  These skills are combined in a safe and supportive counselling context with the aim to empower clients in living their preferred story.  When I am not studying or counselling, I can be found in nature hiking with my husband Nathan and dogs, Chloe and Bella, or curled up with a novel.
